The Bronze Award is the highest award that a Junior Girl Scout (grades 4-5) can earn. It is a 20 hour service project that is approved at the troop level. The Bronze award can be earned by a single Girl Scout, small group of Girl Scouts or an entire troop.
To earn the Bronze Award, a Girl Scout must complete a Junior Journey, then identify an issue that’s important to her, develop it and carry it out to completion. Girl Scouts calls this a Take Action project. It must be sustainable and benefit the community.
If you are interested in learning more about earning your Bronze Award you can find lot’s of information on GSEP’s website here.
The Girl Scouts of Troop 21739 saw a need to recycle soft plastic which can not be recycled with hard plastic. In 6 months they collected over 1000 pounds of soft plastic and through the Trex Company program, had it turned into a bench. Troop 21739 then built and installed the newly created recycled plastic bench at the preschool playground at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
